Shogbesan, Azeez talk tough ahead Dec 24 bout

Must Read

National super-featherweight champion Sikiru Shogbesan and contender Abayomi Azeez have both clashed in a war of words ahead of their war of fists at the main event of the De Lads Promotions boxing event in Lagos.

Shogbesan will defend his title against Azeez at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Surulere on Sunday, December 24.

With a record of 15 victories and eight knockouts, the 28-year-old has only suffered three losses and has expressed confidence at retaining his title against the challenger.

“I’m going to show him why I’m the champion, why I’m called Omo Iya Eleja,” he said in a challenge directed towards Afeez.

“Can you (Azeez) swim? I bet you can’t. If you think you have a chance to beat me, ask my other opponents; they did not even stand a chance. By round four, everything was settled. That’s my belt, it is mine.”

In response, the determined contender, Azeez, known as “Latest,” also showed his readiness for the impending battle.

“Omo Iya Eleja, I’m coming for you. It’s my time to shine,” he simply declared, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense and fiercely contested encounter on the boxing canvas.

With a total of nine career fights, Azeez has emerged victorious in five with four KOs, suffered two losses and endured two draws.
