Africa champion, Oluwaseun Wahab, is set to face unbeaten British boxer Mark Chamberlain for the World Boxing Council lightweight silver title on the undercard of Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk’s undisputed bout on May 18 in Saudi Arabia, reports.

Wahab will battle Chamberlain in a 10-round lightweight clash at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.

The Nigerian boxer holds an impressive record of 23 wins and one loss with 16 of his victories coming via knockouts while the Brit holds an undefeated record of 15 victories and 11 KOs as it promises to be an entertaining clash between both boxers.

Undefeated in Africa, where he has fought in Nigeria and Ghana, his only career loss came when he made his UK debut against Liam Dillon at York Hall, Bethnal Green in London in 2022.

Wahab suffered a majority decision loss in the fight. He has since made up for it with an 11th round technical knockout win over Sikiru Shogbesan to defend his title in the main event of the ‘Rumble in Lasgidi’ in 2023.

The WBO Africa super-featherweight champion will be eager to make it back-to-back wins when he takes to the ring for the star-studded event in Saudi Arabia.

Taking to his social media account on Monday, Wahab expressed confidence in his chances while posting the full fight card writing, “We plan but God is the master planner. I am fully confident for this fight. Let’s go Africa!

“It has been a long journey and lots of up and down in my career but dreams do come true when you believe in yourself.”

Should Wahab defeat Chamberlain in the bout, he will become the third active Nigerian to hold a WBC silver belt joining Efe Ajagba and Elizabeth Oshoba.

Meanwhile, in the main event, Usyk has emerged as the favourite after Fury failed to impress in his last fight against Francis Ngannou struggling to a points win.

However, the WBC champion remains confident of becoming the first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
