Organisers increase cash prizes for 2nd Reis Table Tennis tournament

Organisers of the 2nd Reis Table Tennis tournament have in an effort to encourage players increased cash prizes for the ongoing tourney which served-off Friday at the Eko Club, Surulere, Lagos.

The organisers who revealed this in a media parley, disclosed that competition will be in different categories which includes male, female, cadet, veterans and Eko Club members.

It was further disclosed that scholarship program will be set aside for outstanding players while the sum of two hundred thousand Naira [N250,000] and hundred and fifty thousand [N150,000] been set aside respectively for the overall winners in the male and female categories.

Olaseni Reis, an engineer hinted that all hands are on deck to make the championship supersedes the previous edition.

“This year’s edition is organised and dedicated to promoting youth development and social engagement through the sport of table tennis. This tourney is an initiative conceived to use the sport of table tennis as a rallying point for social engagement and youth development. It is a platform for young people to showcase their skills, develop their potential and promote values that chisel out individuals that can be further nurtured into assets to the development of the sport at the grassroots level and ultimately the nation Nigeria.

“I’m glad to tell you this year’s edition will help promote lads and lead to scholarship level. We’ve opened a trust fund for ten outstanding players and I’m sure it will go a long way. The winner of this year’s edition will see the male winner walk away with the sum of N250,000 while the female will bag N150,000,” he stated.

Chairman, Eko Club, Razaak Amodu stated that members of the club are ready to show support and participate in the competition.

“We are also involved in this for we know the importance of sports. We are battle ready to clinch any available trophy and I’m sure my members won’t disappoint me.”
