Ondo old students donate N12m laboratory to secondary school

The old students of The Apostolic High School, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State have renovated and equipped the science laboratory of their alma mater to the tune of N12 million.

Speaking at the presentation of the gift to the school, the association’s National President, Dr Gabriel Aladegbaye-Williams, explained that the renovation and equipping of the school’s biology, chemistry and physics laboratories will further enhance the study of science subjects among the students.

According to him, the gesture became imperative in order to improve the teaching and learning experiences of science pupils of the institution.

Represented by the association’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr Adedayo Afe, the national president stated, “No doubt, the benefit of a functional and active old students-association can not be overemphasised, and this is evidenced by the laudable project we are commissioning and the expected attendant impacts on the academic advancement of our students.

“While intentionally contributing our quota to the sustenance of qualitative academic activities in our alma mater, we hereby like to call on our dear Arakunrin (Governor Akeredolu) to kindly support The Apostolic High School Ilara Mokin, especially in the area of physical infrastructure and posting of good teachers to the school.

“This school was 50 years old last year with most of the structures dilapidating, and we the old students association used the landmark golden Jubilee celebration to fix a block of classrooms with the sum of twenty-five million naira only.

“We can not do it alone, we need the assistance of the state government and other spirited bodies and individuals to upgrade the dilapidated infrastructures in this citadel learning.”

In his remarks, the Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Education, Mr Femi Agagu, stated that the facilities would go a long way in assisting the pupils of the school.

He stressed that the old students’ associations in the state were among the most responsible across the country.

The principal of the school, Mrs. Afolakemi Akinjolire, who was represented by the Vice Principal of the school, Mr. Ayodele Akinfolase, commended the old students for coming together to give back to the institution that had moulded them into their current status.

She noted that the old students had been involved in the donation and renovation of many projects within the school.
