Kanayo Kanayo, is famed for acting as a ‘hard man’ in movies. In many films, he has acted as an occultist involved in different rituals.
However, the lawyer and politician also has a softer side, which many do not known. Over the years, he has been involved in philanthropic activities.
On Saturday, February 4, 2023, his Kanayo O Kanayo Foundation held a send-forth event for about 100 pupils who will go to study at Weldios University in the Republic of Benin, on scholarships from the foundation.
Parent and guardians of the lucky students could not contain their joy as they showered praises and prayers on the veteran actor.
In his address at the event, Kanayo stated that the send-forth was organised to correct the notion in some quarters that the foundation was fraudulent.
He also recalled how his father ensured he went to school, despite not having the financial means.
Kanayo urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity they were getting, explaining that over 3000 pupils took the test but only 100 of them were given scholarships. He urged them to be good ambassadors of the country and the foundation, stating that the scholarship covers their tuition fees from the first year till they graduate, as long they maintain excellent academic performance. He added that the students’ activities in the school would be well monitored, noting that any student found to violate the rules of the university and their host country would be sanctioned.
