Renowned chess master, Tunde Onakoya, who commenced his mission to surpass the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon has reached a 57-hour mark, surpassing the previous record ofĀ  56 hours and 9 minutes.

In an arduous effort to raise funds and awareness for providing educational opportunities to underprivileged children across Africa, Onakoya currently aims at reaching the 58-hour target.

The previous Guinness World Record record of 56-hour, 9-minute mark, was set by Norwegian players Hallvard Haug FlatebĆø and Sjur Ferkingstad in 2018.

According to The Gift of Chess on X who posted at 12:34am on Saturday, ā€œ56 Hours Straight. The Record Is SET TO BREAK.ā€
