Three men arraigned for stealing pumping machine in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command, on Monday, arraigned three men before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing of a pumping machine worth N40,000.

The defendants, 18-year-old Buhari Ibrahim, 20-year-old Muniru Yahaya and 20-year-old Rufai Isiaka, are facing a count charge of stealing.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, told the court that “the defendants stole a pumping machine valued at N40,000 belonging to one Modupe Oso.

“The defendants committed the offence on July 18 at about 11:40a.m at the Tinuola Area in Ado-Ekiti.

“The offence contravened Section 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021,” the police prosecutor said.

Leramo, however, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them as their counsel, Mr Sunday Balogun, urged the court to grant them bail, promising that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N20,000 with one surety each in like sum.

The chief magistrate adjourned the case till August 28 for hearing.
