Nottingham Forest shocked Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge Stadium on Saturday, running away with a 1-0 victory, thanks to Anthony Elanga’s lone strike.

The Forest stormed into the lead on 48 minutes and they held on to claim three important points away from home.

Nigeria’s Taiwo Awoniyi was the provider of the goal. He showed great vision to find Elanga with a cheeky pass inside the box, and his first-time shot was precise and sailed into the bottom right corner.

Awoniyi had earlier on 31 minutes missed a golden chance to score. He got on the ball inside the box and thumped a splendid first-time shot on goal, but it went narrowly wide of the right post.

Nicolas Jackson, six minutes to duration, had a great chance to equalise for Chelsea inside the box following a rebound off a defender, but somehow he got underneath the ball and it flew high over the bar.

On 87th minute, Thiago Silva unleashed a decent strike heading to the bottom right corner, but the keeper dove to keep it out.

Five minutes into added time, Elanga took the ball, nicely zig-zagged through the defence, but his shot to the left post was smartly dealt with by Robert Sanchez.

A minute later, Raheem Sterling picked up the ball inside the box and fired a beautiful first-time shot, but it went just a few inches wide off the left post.
