Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu clocks 57, today, June 25.

The governor took to his verified Twitter handle to appreciate God for the gift of life.

He also thanked his family for their unflinching support of his career.

The tweet said, “It’s my birthday, and I am filled with gratitude to God for the gift of life. I want to take this moment to express my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has been a part of my journey.

“Firstly, I want to thank my amazing wife and family. Your love, support, and unwavering belief in me have been my pillars of strength. I am blessed to have you by my side as we navigate this incredible journey together.”

The 57-year-old governor who came into power in October 2018 after succeeding former governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, further reiterated his commitment and desire to continue t steer the affairs of the state in the right direction.

“I am also thankful to acknowledge the zeal and passion that drives me to serve Lagos diligently. Every decision I make, every policy I implement, and every initiative I undertake is fueled by my dedication to the progress and well-being of every Lagosian.

“On this special day, I want to extend my gratitude to the wonderful people of Lagos. Your support, constructive feedback, and resilience inspire me to work harder every day. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones, and I am excited about what the future holds. May we continue to prosper, may our state flourish, and may our unity remain inviolable,” Sanwo-Olu tweeted.

Sanwo-Olu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Surveying and a Master’s in Business Administration, both from the prestigious University of Lagos, Nigeria.

He’s an alumnus of the Lagos Business School, London Business School, and the John F. Kennedy School of Government, USA.

Sanwo-Olu started his political journey in 2003 as a Special Adviser on Corporate Matters to a former deputy governor of the state, Femi Pedro.

He also held several positions under the administrations of other past governors such as incumbent President Bola Tinubu, Babatunde Fashola, and Akinwunmi Ambode.

The business school graduate ran for the office of the state governor in 2018, under the umbrella of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

In the 2023 gubernatorial elections, Sanwo-Olu was re-elected as the state governor for the second term, after facing staunch opposition from Labour Party’s candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

In his tweet, the governor appreciated all his well-wishers for their prayers.

“Thank you for the warm birthday wishes. Here’s to another year of service, growth, and transformation for Lagos!,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
