Ruthless Manchester City demolished Luton Town 5-1 on Saturday to move top of the English Premier League at the Etihad Stadium.

However, a win for Arsenal and Liverpool on Sunday could see either of them overtake City but if the two top sides pick a draw in their matches, City will remain on top.

An own goal two minutes into the game gave City the lead. Daiki Hashioka scored an unlucky own goal after he deflected a shot which went into his own net.

City doubled their lead in the 64th minute of the match. Mateo Kovacic got to the ball on the edge of the box and fired in a first-time shot without any hesitation. The strike was excellent and went straight under the crossbar.

The homers’ third goal came in the 76th minute of the game from the penalty spot by Erling Haaland. He drove the ball low into the left of the net, giving goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski no chance.

Luton pulled one back in the 81st minute after a City defender ended up losing possession, allowing Ross Barkley to pick up the ball before slotting it into the back of the net to make it 3-1.

Six minutes later, an amazing individual effort from Jeremy Doku ended with a strike from inside the penalty area. He sent the ball precisely into the bottom right corner and made it 4-1.

City scored their 5th goal three minutes into added time. Josko Gvardiol neatly controlled a decent pass from Jeremy Doku. He looked up and smashed an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.
