Richarlison, Son score as Spurs beat Everton 2-1

Must Read

Tottenham returned to winning ways following their 2-1 victory over Everton in the league match on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Both teams had good attempts at goal in the first six minutes into the game.

Brazilian attacker, Richarlison, found the net against his former side in the 9th minute, following a close range tap in from a cross courtesy of the 22-year-old Welsh winger, Brennan Johnson.

Everton had a chance begging when striker Calvert-Lewin’s header was tipped over the bar by Vicario.

Another chance came for the striker in the 17th minute after his attempt at the empty net went wide. Vicario has rushed out to clear the ball before his header effort went straight to the English striker.

Spurs captain, Son, doubled the lead after Pickford had parried a shot from Johnson.

After the half-time mark, Calvert-Lewin saw his goal ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee in the 52nd minute following a check that penalised Andre Gomes during the buildup.

Both goalkeepers, Vicario and Pickford, were called to action at intervals following several goal attempts from their opponents.

Everton pulled one back in the 82nd minute courtesy of Gomes whose first-time attempt went into the bottom corner of the post.

The visitors nearly got their equaliser in the stoppage time after an attempt by Danjuma but the goal-line technology came to the rescue for Spurs.

Tottenham find themselves in the fourth position on the league table after leapfrogging Manchester City, as the Toffees stay four points clear off the relegation zone.

The Toffees have been in-form of late as they’ve won all four league matches in December prior to today’s 2-1 loss to Spurs.
