Relationships unravel as show ends next week

Must Read

the grand finale of the Big Brother Naija (All Stars edition) approaches, housemates in relationships (popularly called ‘ships’) are preparing for life outside of the house.

Biggie organised a dinner date for lovers, Adekunle and Venita, and the duo got dressed in a suit and dinner gown respectively. However, in the course of the dinner in a specially arranged setting, conversations between the couple seemed forced. Venita also took offence when Adekunle joked that he would invite her to the christening of his child. After the date, Adekunle packed some of the plates, and left Venita on the spot.

Apparently feeling bad, Venita later went to the bathroom to shed tears, while Angel comforted her. Venita then stated that she felt lost in the ‘ship’ and could no longer understand Adekunle.

Meanwhile, the other enduring ‘ship’ in the game— between Soma and Angel— was also going through a rough patch. Even though Angel wrote Soma a love letter to cheer him up during the week, their relationship seemed to have lost its steam. This led to insinuations by fans that the ‘ships’ were products of convenience, and had never been genuine.

Many fans have opined that the ‘ships’ were merely a strategy the housemates used to climb to the top; and that having made it this far, they no longer saw the need to maintain those relationships.

Meanwhile, housemates joined Nigerians in paying tributes to the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, who died in controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. During the week, they observed a minute silence in honour of the decased artiste.

Since the late singer passed on, his songs had been played regularly in the house; and during the last eviction show, the host, Ebuka, rounded off with a  tribute to the late singer, as his face was put up on the screen, and his music played to close the show.

Of the nine housemates left on the show, Adekunle, Venita, Soma, Angel and Pere are up for eviction, while Cee C, Ilebaye, Mercy and Cross have made it to the final week of the show by virtue of winning the HOH games, black envelope game, and immunity.
