Rivers State deputy governor, Dr. Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, has been declared the winner of Rivers West senatorial district in the national assembly election held last Saturday.
Harry-Banigo who contested on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who is also a former chairman of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Hon. Asita Honourable Asita to win the senatorial seat.
PDP also won the two other senatorial seats in Rivers.
According to result declared by INEC, Hon. Allwell Onyesoh won the Rivers East Senatorial District seat, while Senator Barry Mpigi also retained his seat as Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District.
