Paris Saint Germain head coach Cristophe Galtier has confirmed Lionel Messi’s exit from the club at the end of the season.
Speaking on Thursday Galtier said he was happy to have coached “the best player in the history of football”.
“It will be Leo’s last match at the Parc des Princes against Clermont,” Galtier added.
Messi joined the Ligue 1 giants in 2021.
His contract will expire on June 30.
Messi and Galtier spent just a single season together in Paris which brought them the Ligue 1 title and the Trophee des Champions.
They failed to lift the Champions League, however, and being knocked out of the tournament by 2020 winners Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals could mean Galtier follows Messi out of the exit door yet not on his own terms by being fired.
