Oyebanji, Osun APC back Tinubu to perform

Members of the All Progressives Congress in major towns across Osun State on Monday organised get-together to celebrate the inauguration of the new President, Bola Tinubu.

Checks by our correspondent in Ila, Iragbiji, Ikire, Iwo, Osogbo, Ife, indicated that APC members gathered at designated places to follow Tinubu’s swearing-in ceremony on television, after which they held the celebration.

At the residence of the ex-Interim National Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, in Ila, party members, had gathered and celebrated Tinubu.

In Iragbiji, the town of the immediate past governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, APC members also engaged in partying to welcome the new president.

Many party members were also at the APC state party secretariat in Osogbo, where a band was stationed to entertain supporters.

Speaking with The PUNCH in Osogbo at the APC state secretariat, Adegboyega Adelabu, who served as the Special Adviser, Youth and Sports to the ex-governor, Oyetola, said celebration of Tinubu’s inaguration took place across the nine federal constituencies in the state.

He said, “This is ongoing in all the nine federal constituencies in Osun State. As we are currently celebrating in Osogbo, this event is going on in the other federal constituencies – Ede, Iwo, Ikire, Ife, Ilesa, Ijebu-ijesa, Ila and Ikirun.

“We are celebrating the emergence of the All Progressives Congress. You will agree with me that this is the first time a core progressive will be the president of this country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, on Monday, congratulated Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his successful inauguration.

Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, described the new President as “a seasoned administrator and strategist who has the wealth of experience to turn the fortunes of Nigeria around positively, making use of abundant human and material resources.”

The governor said, “With President Tinubu in the driving seat, Nigeria is in safe hands for sustainable development, economic revival, sustenance of infrastructure renewal, reduction of poverty, wealth and job creation, and fulfilment of electoral promises made in the lead-up to the presidential poll.”

Also, a sociopolitical group in the South-South, Niger Delta Youth Council, hailed Tinubu on his successful inauguration and charged him to “focus on infrastructure development, so as to cast his name in gold,” and “prioritise the proper development of the Niger Delta region.”
