Our strike has started – SSANU, NASU Published By: Paul Dada

National President of the  Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Muhammed Ibrahim, the association and the Non-Academic Staff Union have on Monday commenced their scheduled seven day- strike over the failure of the Federal Government to address their complaints about the unfair treatment meted to them.

Ibrahim said members of SSANU had not been paid their 2022 arrears.  He wondered why there was no compliance with President Bola Tinubu’s directive that their arrears be paid.

While appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s  Morning Show, Ibrahim confirmed the strike had started.

“Definitely, it  has already started.

“As of today (Monday), all our workers in registry, bursary, works and maintenance, security, and students’ affairs have withdrawn their services and nothing moves within the administration of any public university in Nigeria and that will be the case for the next seven days until and unless the needful is done,” he stated.

The SSANU president said no representative of the Federal Government had met with them. He said after seven days the unions would decide on their next move.
