Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State says Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano (YUMSUK) will soon be among the country’s leading development centres of research.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Information Officer, Ministry for Higher Education, Malam Sunusi Kofar-Na’Isa on Sunday in Kano.
Yusuf, the visitor of the university, declared this during a familiarisation visit to the institution.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Yusuf Kofarmata, explained that this would be achieved with a track record of achievements, courageous and committed staff, both academic and non-academic, as well as good governance by the management of the university.
He implored the principal officers of the academic and non-academic unions to continue to work as a team towards taking the institution to greater heights.
He pledged to work with all relevant agencies to deliver on this task, starting with the completion of projects in the institution.
Yusuf reiterated his administration’s willingness to give a facelift to the university with a view to attaining a standard of global best practice.
