Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has been given a new protective face mask after losing his previous one while on 2023 AFCON qualifying duties for Nigeria against Guinea Bissau.

The news was confirmed on Wednesday by Roberto Ruggiero, the orthopedist who made the mask, during a chat with CalcioNapoli.

“The new mask is similar in shape to the previous one but more perforated to adapt to the changes in the footballer’s face, and its like a “second skin” and has made Osimhen very satisfied.

“In terms of cuts and shape, it is similar to the previous one but it is more piercing because the player’s face has changed and therefore now it is perfect, it is a second skin. He is very happy and we are very happy.”

“But that’s not all, the Nigerian has also requested that his initials and his No. 9 jersey number be added to the new mask. And there’s more, because an even more special second mask is on its way.

“We are building the second and Osimhen will only have it when the Serie A confirms that Napoli has won the Scudetto.

This new goggle will have the tricolor shield with a 3D printed on the side,” explained Ruggiero. Recall the 24-year-old and Europe’s most sort after striker has been wearing the mask, following a collision with Milan Skriniar during an Inter versus Napoli match in November 2021, which left him with multiple fractures to his left orbital and cheekbone.
