Ogun police hunt two men for defiling minors

The Ogun State Police Command has said it is on the trail of two suspected rapists who allegedly defiled two minors in the Isabo area of Abeokuta and Abule-Osho in the Olambe area of Ifo Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.

PUNCH Metro learnt that a 12-year-old pupil of Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta, was allegedly defiled by a yet-to-be-identified man in the area.

Our correspondent learnt from a police source that the girl and her sister were said to have been roaming the street after their parents had allegedly sent them away from home for an unknown offence.

While walking down the street, the yet-to-be-identified suspect invited them to his house for shelter, where the victim was suspected to have been raped the night before she and her sister were sent away in the morning by the suspect.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the principal of the school, who became aware of the incident, approached the Ibara Police Division along with the victim to report the crime.

Similarly, in Abule-Osho, Olambe area , a seven-year-old girl who had left her house to buy a snack was suspected to have been defiled by an unknown man.

Our correspondent learnt from the police that the girl had left her grandmother’s house to buy a snack at a nearby stall before he was allegedly dragged to a nearby bush by an unknown man and defiled on Thursday.

Our correspondent learnt that the defilement resulted in uncontrollable bleeding from the minor’s private part and that he was hurriedly rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Reacting to the crimes via a WhatsApp chat on Sunday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed both incidents, said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspects.

Odutola said, “Efforts are on top gear to begin arresting those involved in the crime. Our men visited the scenes of the crimes. We have also commenced intelligence gathering to arrest the suspects for prosecution.”
