Edo government has announced plans to fully deploy e-governance from Friday September 1 as all its activities will be conducted on e-platforms from that day.

The State Head of Service, Barrister Anthony Okungbowa, who disclosed this during a re-orientation exercise of workers in the State, said staff would no longer be required to move files from one office to the other.

Okungbowa who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Peter Osagie, said the exercise was to ensure that personnel are carried along in the implementation of the policy.

He added that e-governance will ensure speed in getting jobs done and lead to end in use of physical files.

He therefore admonished State civil servants to brace up and key into the policy.

According to him, “There will be logins credential of individuals to access the e-govern network. Workers can also use their Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access e-govern platform from anywhere.

“From September 1, any worker who can’t use e-govern can’t go on leave or attend any programme that requires Duty Tour Allowance (DTA),” he stated.

Recall that Governor Godwin Obaseki had while hinting of the policy in 2021, said the State would leverage technology because it is the new order of the world.

“Nigeria public and civil service are weak and need help because whatever policy and pronouncements made by the government will not work because the civil service is weak,” Obaseki had said.
