New Jigawa CP resumes, seeks support

The newly appointed Commissioner of Police,  Jigawa State Police Command, Ahmadu Abdullahi, has resumed as the 23rd Commissioner of Police in the state.

A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Adam, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH, indicated that Abdullahi resumed on Monday.

“Sequel to the promotion of Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Effiom  Ekot to the substantive rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police and his subsequent redeployment to the Office of the National Security Adviser  Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode  Egbetokun,  has approved the appointment of AT Abdullahi as the new Police Commissioner for Jigawa State,” he said.

Abdullahi was born in Kano Municipal Local Government Area of Kano State and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (C3/ 92). He was trained at the Police Academy annexe Kaduna between 1992 and 1993.

He holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy Administration in 2005 from Bayero University, Kano.

He served as Patrol and Guard, Divisional Crime Officer, Divisional Traffic Officer, and Divisional Police Officer in various Divisional Police Headquarters in some states of the federation.

Before his new appointment, Abdullahi was Commissioner of Police, Procurement Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“With this wealth of experience, strategic plans, and commitment to collaborative efforts, the Jigawa State Police Command is confident that, under the leadership of the new Commissioner of Police, the security situation in the state will improve significantly.

“The CP solicits maximum cooperation, support and collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other relevant sakeholders to partner with police in sharing intelligence  for combating crime and criminality within and outside the state,” the statement said.
