The Peoples Democratic party, PDP says claims of it’s coordinators decamping to the ruling All Progressive Congress is fake and an attempt to defraud the governor Abdullahi Sule.
Recall that multiple online media outlets had reported recently alleging that some PDP local government coordinators of the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Awe, Karu, and Lafia had left the PDP for APC.
Reacting to the report in a press release on Friday, PDP Director, Media/Publicity Campaign Committee Nasarawa State, Mr. Mike Omeri Agbo- Omeri stressed that the report is fake and baseless.
The report read in parts. The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Nasarawa State Chapter has been drawn to a baseless political propaganda by the APC.
The fake news claimed that some PDP ‘coordinators’ have left PDP for the APC alleging that they were Local Government Coordinators of the PDP Gubernatorial Candidate in Awe, Karu and Lafia Local Government Areas. This is absolutely fake and could be fact checked!
To put the records straight, Omeri noted that the 2023 PDP campaign structure has no LG Coordinators. The PDP currently runs a single Campaign Council structure which flows from the national to the polling unit. It has a Chairman, a Director General and members of the campaign council undertaking various duties at the Federal, State, local Government, Ward and polling unit levels.
The Chairman of the Campaign Council in Nasarawa State is Sen. (Dr.) Walid Jibrin OON, a life member of our party’s Board of Trustees. It also has a Director General (DG) Hon. Labaran Maku (CON), former Deputy Governor/Minister FRN with other credible members at the state level.
He further said the structure is strategically reflected at the 13 Local Government Areas, 147 electoral Wards and 3,256 polling units across the state.
“In all these, there are no coordinators in the current party campaign structure. Therefore, the general public is hereby advised to beware of fraudsters who might want to use our good outings, demonstrable support by the good people of Nasarawa State that have without any inducement, turned out in huge numbers to canvass for votes on behalf of our party and its candidates into various offices at the next General elections scheduled for Saturday the 25th February, 2023.”
“We strongly suspect that these elements might be taking advantage of the desperation of the APC, these supposed ‘coordinators’ have chosen to trade or cash in on the shopping of decampees which usually takes place at the government house, portrayed as a bazaar or auction of old and worn out bicycles.”
“Simply , the APC, is sadly being duped and our state resources is being used for this tricky public sale of conscience. We therefore, wish to advise the public and particularly, the APC as caveat or buyers to be aware of this indecency.”
