The 1st ALGON/Engr Abdullahi Sule Inter Local Government Unity Football Competition has been inaugurated by the State Football Association (FA) in Nasarawa State.
The competition is aimed at bringing together young football talents from all 13 local government areas of the state.
Following the draws for the competition, State FA Chairman, Alhaji Muhammed Alkali expressed his satisfaction with the efforts made so far in terms of funding, and commended Lafia local government chairman Hon. Adamu Muazu Maifata for making necessary arrangements that will make the competition one of the best in the history of the state’s football tournament.
Alkali stated that the purpose of the football tournament is to promote unity among various ethnic and religious groups in the state, noting that football has the power to create an enabling environment for such unity.
The final of the competition is set to take place on May 29th, 2023. Alkali urged participants to put in their best performance as scouts and football agents will be present to select players from the competition.
He however, stressed that the competition promises to be a platform for young talents in the state to showcase their skills and abilities, as well as promote unity and peaceful coexistence among the people of Nasarawa State.
