Man, 41, traces father from Gabon to Edo

A young man who identified himself as Clement Asemota has traced his root from Gabon to Edo State, Nigeria.

Clement who found his way to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, through the help of a French interpreter, said his mother told him that his father was from the Asemota’s family in Edo State.

He said his father, was a driver and that in one of his trips to Gabon, he impregnated his mother 41 years ago.

He said ever since then, he has not set eyes on him.

He said the quest to look for his father who his mother said hailed from Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, came up when he was constantly being abused by his other siblings.

He said whether is father is still alive or not, he would not know but his desire is to know where he comes from and how to get to meet him or his father’s family.

Narrating his ordeals to Nigeria in search of his father, Clement said that he was arrested in Lagos and sent to the prison where he spent six months.

Clement said all he had was collected from him including the photograph of his father that would have aided his search.

He said after six months and when nothing incriminating was found on him, he was let go.
