Lagos shuts Carizma Hotel for noise pollution (Photos)

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut the Carizma Hotel and Luxury Suites located in Abule Egba area of the State for noise pollution.
LASEPA, on its X handle displayed photos of the closure of the hotel for violating the state’s environmental laws.

The agency said it had warned management of the hotel several times to abate the nuisance without compliance.
LASEPA stated that the decision to seal the hotel was carried out on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

According to the agency, the hotel management violated the Memorandum of Understanding signed during one of the visits which included that the facility should cease noisy activities by 10.00pm and adhere to approved noise level.
The agency wrote: “LASEPA SEALS CARIZMA HOTEL FOR NOISE POLLUTION. In furtherance of its campaign against noise pollution and other environmental infractions, LASEPA today sealed Carizma Hotel and Luxury Suites located at Abule Egba area of the State.

“Despite receiving multiple warnings and agreeing to guidelines in previous meetings with the agency, the hotel failed to comply with stipulated noise levels. The decision to seal the hotel was made and carried out today, 27th December, 2023 after it violated the terms outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding signed during earlier meetings, which included commitments to cease noisy activities by 10 pm and adhere to approved noise levels.”
