Two yet-to-be-identified suspected robbers have been arrested at a hotel along AIT Road in the Agbado area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Online gathered that the incident occurred on Monday around 3 pm.

A police source from the division who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the issue, told our correspondent that the suspects were apprehended following a distress call regarding the robbery incident at the hotel.

During the arrest, some weapons were recovered, including four locally made guns, one Toyota Corolla saloon car, one Toyota Camry saloon car, five live cartridge ammunition, four expanded, and others.

“Today, April 15, at about 0030 hours, while officers of Agbado Division were on residential patrol, as earlier directed by the area commander, a distress call was received that there was an ongoing robbery incident at a hotel along AIT Road.

“The DPO immediately led the patrol team to the scene to engage them. Subsequently, two of the robbers were arrested, and the following items were recovered from them: four locally made guns, one Toyota Corolla saloon car, one Toyota Camry saloon car, five live cartridge ammunitions, four expanded cartridge ammunition, two Nokia phones, one HTC phone, one Jackknife, six ATM cards, three wrist watches, three female handbags, and a sum of N54,000,” he said.

The source added that the preliminary investigation revealed the gang of armed robbers was nine in total, and they had shot two lodgers before the police arrival.

“The robbers, numbering about nine, had shot and injured two lodgers before the police arrived at the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed the gang of armed robbers were nine in number, who came into the area from Agbara,” he added.

When contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.

He added that the victims are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, and the investigation was ongoing.

He said, “The victims injured by the robbers have been taken to the hospital and are receiving treatment. An investigation is ongoing to apprehend the other members of the gang.”

PUNCH had reported that operatives of the Lagos State Police Command had recently arrested eight suspected armed robbers on its wanted list.
