The ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 21001:2018 certifications are for “The Services of Regulating Pre-Tertiary Education in Lagos State through Inspection, Monitoring, Assessment, and Providing Assurance of Good Quality Educational Services Related to Teaching and Learning’’.

Sharing the outstanding achievement on Wednesday, the Director-General, Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, noted that the certifications show the important strides the agency has taken in revolutionising the education sector in Africa.

“We have curated learning outcomes to inspire intellectual growth for our students, and our quest for excellence has made us the first government educational agency in Africa to receive both prestigious ISO certifications. It is a truly historic achievement for us’’, she noted.

She further added that the ISO 9001:2015 accreditation verified the agency’s excellent quality in regulating pre-tertiary education in Lagos State, while the ISO 21001:2018 certification reinforces the commitment to student-centeredness and high-quality educational services.

She emphasised that these accomplishments are amazing firsts for Nigeria and Africa, underscoring the agency’s persistent commitment to raising educational standards and reshaping educational landscapes.

The DG also stressed the agency’s dedication to pursuing excellence in its mandate, stating that this award will motivate it to continue pushing boundaries, making revolutionary achievements, and altering the education system for the benefit of each learner.

She noted that the state government places a great value on quality education, which is why education is a key component of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s development plan.

She also praised the state government for investing heavily in the education sector through infrastructure, which has resulted in significant improvements and development in school teaching and learning.

Seriki-Ayeni also sought stakeholder help in carrying out its mandate and expanding on its tremendous successes.

‘’With your support, we will empower our students with the best education and equip them with the necessary skills to excel. Let us rejoice in these achievements and set our sights on the journey ahead, towards an educational revolution that will create lasting impact’’.
