Kogi: Hunters nab notorious kidnappers

A group of local security operatives made up of hunters, vigilantes and Fulani guards have apprehended a gang of suspected kidnappers in Bassa local government area of Kogi state.

Acting on intelligence with assistance of Kogi state police command, the group, it was gathered, trailed the deadly kidnappers for days before eventually cornering them in their camp.

The group successfully arrested three of the suspected kidnappers inside a forest in Ikede community of Bassa local government.

The suspects were said to be terrorising some communities along Bassa-Dekina border with impunity until they were arrested at the weekend and brought to Lokoja on Tuesday.

Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor, Mohammed Onogwu confirmed the arrest of the suspected kidnappers.

He said they have been transferred to Kogi State Police Command Headquarters, Lokoja for further interrogation.
