The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress in Lagos State, Akeem Olayiwola, has condemned the killing that took place during the rally of the Yoruba Nation agitators in the Ojota area of the state.

reports that the self-determination group “Yoruba Nation” gathered at Ojota, earlier on Monday gathered to rally at Ojota, and in the course of this, there was an unrest that led to a fracas between the group and the police.

The Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed one person dead in the fracas, adding that some of the rallying individuals had attacked the police.

Reacting further, the AAC gov candidate said, “We vehemently condemn the brutal killing at Ojota. This is when the blood of Jumoke Oyeleke, murdered in July 2021 is still fresh in our hearts, and recently, the brutal murders of Gafaru Buraimoh and Bolanle Raheem.

Citing the Lekki shooting as another instance of extrajudicial killing, Olayiwola said police brutality should have been halted once and for all since the #EndSARS protest of 2020. “But till date, Governor Sanwo-Olu and his cohorts have decided not to implement the  Justice Okuwobi-led #EndSARS panel reports.

“The violation of lagosians rights is quite excessive in the Governor Sanwo-Olu administration. From LASTMA to police to soldiers, this government has let the hell of brutality and barbarism loose on Lagosians,” he claimed.

“This must stop and Lagos must be liberated. For truly, we can’t continue like this,” Olayiwola added in the statement jointly signed by his running mate, Ben Eze.
