Journalists have been charged to always exercise in order for them to be mentally and physically fit.

The charge was given by a Construction firm, Zerbeced, after a road work yesterday in Abuja, that was organized by the firm and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja Council.

Managing Director of Zerbeced, Adil Curt, who flagged off a three- day media parley with a 1km walk-out reemphasized the ‘health-is-wealth’ slogan by encouraging journalists to exercise daily.

Curt noted that the three-day parley which included a lecture series as well as facility tour of Zerbeced projects and a novelty match, in addition to job creation for teeming Nigerians, were part of its avowed corporate social responsibility to Nigerians.

He said the walkout exercise which culminated into health talks and advisory as well as blood pressure, blood sugar tests for the journalists, were necessary to determine their state of health laced side by side their onerous and tedious daily routine of reportage and disseminating news

Curt noted that even though they have not gotten federal jobs and contracts, the measures they have gotten so far will spur them to continue to give to Nigerians.

He pledged to always collaborate with the Nigerian media in the area of interventions like the ongoing three- day media parley organised by his firm and the Abuja Council

Also in his remarks, the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chris Isiguzo, emphasized the need for journalists to exercise so that they can be mentally and physically fit for the job.

He commended Zerbeced for putting together the walk -out and health care services it provided, tasking them to do more for the media, in order to get more corporate publicity and improved patronage

Welcoming guest earlier at the Police post ,Berger Roundabout take off point, in Abuja, Acting Chairman of Abuja NUJ council, Patrick Osadebamwen, said it was sacrosanct for media men to exercise their bodies through regular walkout, while thanking the management of Zerbeced for organising the media parley which he said will further boost relationship of the construction Icon with the media.
