Must Read

being on the losing side against his son on Tuesday in one of the semi-finals of a pre-season tournament in Ikenne, former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba, says he is yet to get over the joy of playing on same pitch with his son, despite losing a bet against him, reports.

Aiyenugba and his son Daniel were in action in a father versus son clash, with the latter coming out tops as Beyond Limits Football Academy defeated Kwara United on penalties.

The NPFL side raced to a two-goal lead inside 10 minutes, but Beyond Limits, the youth side of Remo Stars, found their way back into the game from the penalty spot, before halftime, before making it 2-2 at the death.

Both father and son saved a penalty each as the academy boys defeated Kwara United 4-3 on penalties.

Daniel saved Kwara United’s second spot kick during the shootout just as his father saved Beyond Limit’s third kick, but the academy boys were more clinical, scoring the rest of their kicks, while the NPFL side missed one more.

Reacting to the rare event, an elated Aiyenugba said he was thrilled to have come up against his son.

“I feel so happy and fulfilled knowing that a long term dream has been achieved,” he told .

“It seems like I have won a jackpot because it is not every time you see something like that happening. Playing against my son, who is also his team’s captain, left me grateful to God.

“Before our game, we came to watch the game between Rivers United and Shooting Stars, we joked about playing against each other and we had a bet that the loser will pay the winner N10,000. What that means now is that I am owing him N10,000, which I will pay him when we see.”

Beyond Limits will play 3SC in the final of the tournament on Thursday (today).
