Healthcare foundation opens in Edo

Must Read

A foundation dedicated to giving underprivileged and marginalised areas access to healthcare has been launched at the St. Camillus Hospital, Uromi in Edo State.

The Julius Agenmonmen Foundation, according to a Thursday statement, was established to provide accessible preventive interventions to bring hope to those who have little or no access to proper healthcare in society.

The founder of the foundation, Julius Agenmonmen, said the foundation was established “in appreciation of God’s mercies and blessings towards him and his family.”

The statement said the founder “recalled that in 2016, he was diagnosed with a macular hole in his right eye. The access to right diagnosis and God’s provision to access the right treatment saved his eye.

“It is, therefore, his wish that many in his community of birth and indeed all over the nation and beyond will not suffer from access to early diagnosis and treatment of common health issues.”

According to the statement, a number of equipment were donated during the launch, making the hospital to have the best-equipped eye centre in the local government.

The equipment donated include illuminated LED VA chart; SLITLAMP/ Goldman applanation tonometer; examination chair or combi unit; autoref keratometer; wireless binocular indirect ophthalmoscope; ophthalmoscope and retinoscope; photopter, amongst many others.
