Gov. Yusuf asks police to renew fight against criminals in Kano

Kano state Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to the police to renew fight against thuggery, armed robbery, phone snatching and other crimes and criminal activities in the state.

He made the appeal while receiving the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun and his management team in his office.

While commending the police for fighting crime in the state, he called for continuous security of lives and property in the state.

Governor Yusuf appreciated the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for operating under one roof towards securing the state assuring of the support and cooperation of the state government for them to perform exceptionally.

He added that to bring police closer to people, his administration has constructed the Tarauni Area Command headquarters and Divisional Police headquarters at Court road and two others are under construction at Tudun Wada and Zango Divisional Police headquarters.

He said the two police stations would be completed in earnest.

In his remarks, , the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun said he was in Kano for the Passing Out Parade of the participants of course 5 regular cadet ASPs of the Police Academy Wudil.

He commended Governor Yusuf for providing adequate logistics that are enabling men and officers of the force to carry out their duties diligently in the state.

The police boss said that he is assiduously working with his management team to provide an articulated blueprint for effective service delivery, especially in the areas of modern community policing that is technology driven, intelligence gathering and other facets so as to take the force to the next level.

He, however, informed Governor Yusuf that he is initiating the establishment of a Special Intervention Squad made up of well trained and equipped personnel to quickly respond to any emergency need, adding that Kano state has been chosen to be the pilot state of the project.
