Must Read

Nigeria Football Federation Thursday announced the arrival of the country’s U-20 team following their ouster from the ongoing U-20 World Cup in Argentina, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to the statement on the NFF Twitter handle, the players and their officials flew into Abuja on Thursday afternoon via Ethiopian Airlines.

“The Nigeria U-20 team flew into Abuja on Thursday afternoon via Ethiopian Airlines,” the statement read.

“Ladan Bosso and his wards reached the quarter-finals, Nigeria first since 2011, but also lost to South Korea and missed out on the last four.

“Welcome home lads!”

The Flying Eagles, after quite an impressive showing at the tournament, were able to make it to the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by Korea Republic.

Despite their dominance, Choi Seok-Hyun scored the only goal of the decider in the sixth minute of the extra time to send Nigeria parking.

Having defeated European champions Italy and Dominican Republic to advance from the group stage, Nigeria eliminated hosts and six-time champions Argentina in the round of 16 before having their hopes ended at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero by the Asians.
