Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Adeleke Mamora, celebrated his 70th birthday on Thursday, February 16, 2023, with several notable personalities in attendance.

The event, which was held in Ikeja, Lagos, witnessed the launch of the birthday’s boy’s biography titled, ‘Olorunnimbe’, and the unveiling of the Mamora Education and Leadership Foundation.

The master of ceremonies, Gbenga Adeyinka, was on top of his game as he entertained guests at the event.

Some of the prominent personalities at the occasion were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; a former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi; former governors of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun and Gbenga Daniel. The chairman on the occasion was a former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) also sent a congratulatory message virtually to the host. In his message, he acknowledged Mamora’s service to the country and to his political party, the All Progressives Congress.

He said, “It is my pleasure to pay tribute to Senator (Dr) Adeleke Mamora as he turns 70. (He is) a medical doctor, a former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Senator of the Federal Republic, Minister of Senate for Health, and Minister of Science and Technology. I personally appreciate you for your service to our party, and to Nigeria. I also send my greetings to your dear wife, children and grandchildren. Congratulations.”

Similarly, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo praised Mamora for maintaining his integrity, humility and loyalty despite being a politician.

A thanksgiving service was also held at the Christ Baptist Church, Gbagada, Lagos, where Obasanjo, showered encomiums on Mamora.

He said, “There are people who knew him (Mamora) when he was a child. His father was my teacher in school. When he was performing well as a politician, I was not surprised.

“He sent a message to me that I should make myself available for this day. A federal minister sending a message to me is an honour. I told him I accepted. In the humility and simplicity of his father, he came by himself. I told him that since he had already sent a message, why did he come? This occasion clashes with the African Union summit in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), where I should have been since yesterday. Mamora is a politician, a medical doctor and a good minister. Congratulations and many happy returns.”

In his vote of thanks, the host appreciated everyone who came from various places to celebrate with him. His wife, children and grandchildren were also solidly behind their patriarch on his day of joy.

Other notable guests at the event were the Minister of Transport, Mu’azu Sambo; Minister of State for Health, Ekumankama Nkama; Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat; Erelu Abiola Dosunmu; business tycoons, Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola.
