Para badminton star Eniola Bolaji is thrilled to have won the women’s singles SL3 title at the just-concluded Spanish Para Badminton International 2024 in Victoria, Spain, reports.

It was her second Spanish title since making her debut in the competition three years ago.

Bolaji, ranked 10th globally, defeated world number six Oksana Kozyna from Ukraine 2-0 (21-13, 21-8) to clinch the title last Saturday.

En route to her triumph in Spain, Bolaji defeated world number 13 Emona Ivanova (Bulgaria) 2-0 (21-4, 21-8), India’s Mandeep Kaur Mandeep, seeded number one, 2-0 (21-10, 21-8) and Victoria Bailey of England 2-0 (21-5, 21-4).

“This win is huge for me, and I feel delighted to make my country and my federation proud,” Bolaji told PUNCH Sports Extra.

“There is still a lot I want to achieve before the Paralympics. I want to continue working hard so I can be a contender for medals in Paris.”

Meanwhile, the President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Francis Orbih, expressed delight at Bolaji’s latest feat.

Orbih said Bolaji’s performance has seen her become a force to reckon with in Para badminton.

“I am excited Bolaji has won her second Spanish International,” Orbih said.

“She won her first gold in 2021 and made history in 2024 by winning the gold against the highly experienced Kozyna, who had the edge based on statistics, but Bolaji showed class in the final with her spectacular performance.”
