Edo pledges support for culture export, exchange

Must Read

The Edo State Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Uyi Makaka, has expressed the commitment of the Godwin Obaseki-led administration to support the promotion and export of the rich cultural heritage of the Edo people to the world.

Makaka stated that in line with the government’s efforts at promoting and sustaining culture and tradition, it had continued to put in place structures to that effect where talent among performing artists could be harnessed.

She revealed this on Friday while playing host to representatives of the Moses Iyoha Memorial Foundation, a Spanish delegation that visited the state to intimate the ministry of its intention of holding a cultural festival slated to take place in Spain later in the year.

While receiving the delegation, the commissioner urged them to be good ambassadors of the state, just as she promised the ministry’s support in ensuring the group had a successful outing in Spain.

The leader of the delegation, Kennedy Iyoha, thanked the commissioner for the reception, stating that the musical engagement was to promote Benin culture to the international communities and expose the artists to talent hunters.
