CSOs in Rivers table 7-point demand before CP Disu

Civil Society Organizations, CSOs in Rivers under the aegis of RIVSCO led by their Chairman, Comrade Enefaa Telema Georgewill have tabled a seven-point demand before the new state commissioner of police, Tunji Disu.
The demands were presented to the Commissioner of Police during a courtesy visit by the Executives of RIVCSO to his office at Police Headquarters, Moscow road, Port Harcourt on Monday the 27th of Nov 2023.
In a press statement, RIVSCO spokesperson Solomon Lenu stated that the leaders of the civil society organizations discussed a wide range of issues with Disu during the visit to set the tone for him in areas of concern that border on the welfare of the people of the state.
He listed issues discussed during the visit to the police commissioner to include upholding the rights of the people of the state, improving the Police/Civilian Relationship, arresting And Prosecuting the Killers Of SP Bako Agbashim as well as the release of the body of the late Chima Ikwunado for burial.
Other issues include Professional Policing and improved security in the state, maintaining utmost Political neutrality, and stopping extortion by officers of the police on road duties.
In his response, CP Disu thanked the organization for finding it worthy to visit him and for their intention to lend a hand of fellowship in the task of providing security for the people of Rivers State.
The CP equally stated that he will be more than happy to always receive input and suggestions that will help him work more effectively while noting that the Police can only be as effective as the quality of information and collaboration it receives from the public and organizations such as RIVCSO.
Our Correspondent reports that barely 72 hours after the Commissioner of Police’s interaction with the civil rights group post with the photo of the Rivers Police boss started trending online allegedly from the command stating that the members of the public are free to video Policemen on duty.

The command was yet to authenticate if the post emanates from it at the time of filing this report despite enquires from our Correspondent.
