Residents of Sabon Gari area of Zaria, Kaduna State, were thrown into mourning following a fire that gutted the residence of a couple, killing them and their six children.
It was gathered that the fire incident happened around 2am on Thursday when the family members were asleep.
A source, who preferred to be anonymous, said heat from the deceased family woke neighbours, who came out to put out the fire.
The source, however, said that they couldn’t rescue the trapped family members alive.
He added that “we didn’t see fire fighters until the family members were burnt”
He further listed the names of the family members to be Malam Rabiu Mohammed, the husband, and Fatima, his wife.
Others, he said, were the six children, Rabiatu, Hauwa’u, Hindatu, Umar, Ibrahim, Abubakar, an infant.
There was no official statement from either the state government and Police in the state as the spokesman of the Command, DSP Muhammad Jalige, promised to get back to our correspondent.
He, however, did not get back to our correspondent as of the time of filing this report.
