Cosmopolitan varsity finalizes preparation for take-off

Cosmopolitan University, Abuja, which is one of the recently licensed private universities in Nigeria said it has concluded plans to begin academic and non-academic activities at its temporary site located at Central Area, Abuja.

Registrar of the University, Ibrahim Ahmad Mani, confirmed to journalists at a press conference, in Abuja, that the take-off site of the university is ready to receive its pioneer students for the beginning of new academic year in September who would enjoy learning experience that is of international standard and innovation.

He said the university has been designed to leverage technology to run its academic and non-academic programmes, thus getting students ready for the 21st world of works that is driven by technology.

He noted that the university is committed to a technological driven education that would bring about the latest thinking and practices in different disciplines.

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Carl Adams, also told the newsmen that the university will serve the academic and non-academic needs of younger generation, arming them with skills, competences, and abilities to compete favorably in the world.

He said that aside the use of good West African Examination Council (WAEC) and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results to admit students, the university will adopt the use of transcripts to help students identified to have great potentials.

Prof. Adams stated that the university has also developed a scholarship opportunity for students who are intelligent enough to get a first class in the first semester as an encouragement for others that are academically behind.

He said: “At Cosmopolitan, we embedded entrepreneurship and innovations to encourage partnerships between businesses, professionals, innovators, other academic organisations, and researchers.

“Our students would be well placed to be the academic, business, industry, and thought leaders of the future. We would bring international footprint and expertise by looking at the best in the world, giving students the opportunity to play with technologies and take the inspiration from them to go to the next level.”

Prof. Adams said the era of sending Nigerian children abroad for education might soon be over because the school will provide the education and experience in Nigeria in affordable and accessible way.

He, however, restated his commitment to train students who would create jobs for others as well as engage themselves profitably at the end of their studies, adding that the university will partner other universities in Nigeria and abroad to achieve its mandates.
