CDS seeks allocation to build barracks, bases

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has sought the assistance of the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, for allocation to build more barracks and bases for the military.

Musa also requested budgetary allocation to enable the military to complete the Armed Forces Complex at its permanent site.

In a statement on Tuesday by the Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Guasu, the CDS disclosed this during a visit to Bagudu’s office in Abuja.

It partly read, “The CDS who was accompanied by senior officers from the Defence Headquarters said he was at the Ministry to appeal for the minister’s support in terms of budgetary allocation to the Armed Forces of Nigeria to aid unhindered discharge of its constitutional mandates.

“General Musa further requested for budgetary appropriation to enable for the completion of the Armed Forces Complex permanent site.

“He also calls on the minister to assist the AFN to sort out accommodation deficit in the Barracks and Bases by ensuring budget allocation for that purpose.”

The CDS, however, assured the Minister of the military’s commitment to rid the country of criminals.

He also promised to make Nigeria and Nigerians safer.

Speaking, Bagudu assured the Armed Forces of Nigeria of his ministry’s support. He added that the budget cycle must consider critical security challenges.

Badugu also expressed his confidence in the ability of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to surmount all the security challenges bedevilling the country.
