… As Leverkusen wins Bundesliga

Super Eagles striker, Victor Boniface and a hattrick from Florian Wirtz led Bayer Leverkusen’s victory party yesterday at the BayArena with a comfortable 5-0 win over Werder Bremen to be crowned champion of Germany for the first time in the team’s 120-year existence.

Boniface’s 31st minute goal off an assist by Amine Adli started the fireworks as the fans went into frenzy.

Former Arsenal star, Granit Xhaka added the second goal in the 60th minute with Boniface providing the assist to send the fans on a wild jubilation while Florian Wirtz scored the third goal from a Robert Andrich assist in the 68th minute.

Wirtz completed the route in the 83 minute with his second goal on the night to make it 4-0 for the Xabi-Alonso side. He completed his hattrick on 90th minute to make it a historic win.

Leverkusen also parades Super Eagles winger, Nathan Tella and together with Boniface, they are making history.

Before the match, Bayer Leverkusen fans had lined up in their thousands on the now aptly named Xabi-Alonso-Allee to see their team crowned Bundesliga champion four hours prior to kick-off on a day where the temperatures were nearly hitting 20 degrees, but were boisterous as they welcomed the team bus.
