Benin monarch backs village head appointment

Must Read

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has said the appointment of Pa Ifa Ogiefa as the head of Orior-Osemwende village in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State, stands.

The Obazelu of Benin, Chief Osaro Idah, and other Benin chiefs, recently conveyed Oba Ewuare II’s decision to the elders of Orior-Osemwende village, in Oba’s Palace, in Benin City.

Idah cautioned elders of Orior-Osemwende against violence and urged them to unite for the overall development of the community.

Responding to attempts by some individuals, aided by Orior-Osemwende notable indigenes, who lost their pledge of service to Benin ancestry in the Enigie’s uprising, to cause crisis in the village, the Esere of Benin, Chief Stanley Obamwonyi, maintained that Pa. Ogiefa remains the Odionwere of Orior-Osemwende village.

Esere revealed that the Oba of Benin Palace is in solidarity with the village head, and urged elders and people of Orior-Osemwende and the public to be properly guided.

Esere clarified that Pa. Ogiefa’s appointment takes immediate effect from the date he was appointed by the Oba of Benin.
