Bayelsa APC elders tackle ex-Rep over anti-Sylva comments

Must Read

The All Progressives Congress Elders Council in Bayelsa State has condemned the attack by a former member of the National Assembly, Israel Sunny-Goli, on the party’s governorship candidate for the November 11 election, Timipre Sylva.

They lampooned Sunny-Goli, who represented Nembe-Brass Federal Constituency, for displaying “the highest level of betrayal and ingratitude towards Sylva during his so-called press conference” in Yenagoa on Thursday.

The APC elders council, in a statement signed by their chairman, Michael Adomokeme, said Sunny-Goli had lost political focus and that he failed to win re-election to the House of Representatives in the last general elections because of his incompetence.

They reminded Sunny-Goli that the former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources was responsible for his rise in politics.

They said, “We are puzzled Israel Sunny-Goli has chosen the path of infamy. He should be grieving his loss to a very aged woman in a landslide.

“Of course, we know it is his right to support whomsoever he chooses, it is enshrined in the constitution. But biting the hand that fed you is pure treachery. Sylva’s support helped in making him SA, House of Assembly and Federal House of Reps member. How else can anyone be assisted further?

“What we will not accept is his constant infantile whining against our incoming governor and leader, Chief Timipre Sylva. He has lost political suave as can be seen in his election results, especially his unit and ward. Now he seems to be losing it psychologically.”

When contacted, Sunny-Goli described the Bayelsa APC elders as faceless.

He said, “Those so-called elders are not known in the party. They are faceless. They are fake. If they are not faceless, let them come out and don’t stay in one cubicle to issue statements.

“What I expect at this point is for the man himself (Sylva) to come out and challenge me that he has structures.”
