Meanwhile, a resident of the village, Dalhatu Duhuwa, who spoke with our correspondent disagreed with the police on the number of casualties, which he puts at six and not five.

Duhuwa, while confirming the numbers of casualties said the incident started from around 10:30 pm on Thursday night and lasted till around 12:10 am when the armed bandits left the village.

“The incident started around 10:30 and lasted till around 12:10 am when the bandits left after killing about six persons, all men, injuring four, and abducting some women.

“Though police and other security operatives mobilised and came at about 12:25, they got the information through some of us who are social media influencers and through our post.

“They tried to pursue the bandits into the bush but unfortunately could not see them as they have gone far.”

Meanwhile, Duhuwa who is a social media influencer has appealed to the security agents currently in the village to extend their stay and be vigilant.

He noted that information available to him indicated the bandits were hiding in the bush close to the village and may still launch an attack again.
