As part of exercise to bring the military closer to the people, the the 35th Artillery Brigade of Nigerian Army has commissioned a Solar-Powered Industrial Borehole at its host community, Alamala Abeokuta Ogun State.

In the same vein, the Artillery Brigade also conducted free medical Services for communities in Owode-Yewa area in Ogun West.

Speaking on the exercise, the Commander of the Brigade Brigadier General Mohammed Tajudeen Aminu hinted that the initiatives are part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to give back to society and enhance its relationship with the host community.

He emphasized the importance of identifying and addressing the critical needs of the society within limited resources of the Nigerian Army.

“This project is a result of discussions our host community, Alamala, where they identified water scarcity as a major challenge. Today, we have fulfilled our promise by sinking a solar-powered borehole. I believe this project will significantly impact the lives of the community and society at large.

“This is what the Army headquarters always encourage our formations to do like to improve on existing relationship with the host community and we’ll continue to do it within our limited resources.”

“The security is a collective responsibility and not only for the security agencies but also the citizens at large, I know we have enjoyed the relationship with the host community , we also enjoyed them supporting our operations and activities especially in the area of sharing of information , what I will urged the community to do is to support and cooperate with all the security agencies especially in the area of sharing of information . Our target here is 1000 people.”

The baale (community leader) of Alamala, High Chief Akimade Yemi, expressed gratitude for the initiative.

According to him “The Commander has done well, and we appreciate him. Our community values the cordial relationship with Alamala barracks. This water project is crucial, and we are committed to secure and maintain it. While we appreciate this gesture”.

A resident of Alamala Community, Aminat Zakariyah, shared her relief, especially during the dry season.

“I thank God and our commander because we have been suffering for water. This water will benefit everyone in the community, and we are grateful for this timely intervention,” she said.

Speaking on the collaboration, Amona Oba of Owode Yewa, Nojeemdeen Olubiyi, expressed gratitude for the continuous support from the Nigerian Army.

He added that the community has enjoyed a positive relationship with the military, with notable contributions to operations and activities, particularly in sharing vital information.
