Adamawa: I-G Baba removes CP Barde over supplementary poll

Must Read

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, on Tuesday ordered immediate withdrawal of Mohammmed Barde, the Commissioner of Police on election duty from Adamawa State with immediate effect.

I-G Baba gave the order as the Returning Officer resumed collation of results of Adamawa governorship election on Tuesday.

Barde, had come under fire and fierce criticisms for giving cover to the Independent National Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa, who illegally declared the result of the state governorship election even when the process of the collation of the results was yet to be completed last Sunday.

In obvious response to the criticism, the IGP also ordered the withdrawal of the Barde on Tuesday as the collation of the results resumed.

He also ordered the CP in charge of Gombe State, Etim Equa, to immediately proceed to Adamawa state to take charge of security for the conclusion of the election.

Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, informed journalists of the deployments in Abuja

He also reiterated the commitment of the Inspector General of Police to free and fair electoral process.
