A postgraduate student of University of Port Harcourt, UNIPORT, identified as Francis Mgbamgba has been found dead in his off-campus apartment in Alakahia, Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers state.
According to reports, the deceased, a student of the department of humanities of UNIPORT was found dead on Saturday, February 11.
The late Francis Mgbamgba was said to have been last seen by his neighbours on Wednesday last week.
UNIPORT Management confirmed that the deceased was a student of Fine Arts and Design Department.
Speaking to our Correspondent on phone, Sam Kpenu, the spokesperson for the University confirmed the incident.
He stated that the “deceased was a likeable person, a postgraduate student the University”.
Kpenu also revealed that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Georgewill Owunari, the Dean of Faculty Humanities and a sister to the victim had identified the body as that of Late Francis Mgbamgba.
“His lives in an off-campus apartment in Alakahia, Obio-Akpor local government area of the state. He is a postgraduate student our university. He was last seen on Wednesday last week, but his body was discovered on Saturday February 11. His body has been deposited in the mortuary,” Kpenu said.
The cause of death has not been established at time of filing this report.
Also, the Police in Rivers is yet to react to the incident.
