Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy has revealed that N’Golo Kante actually predicted the outcome of last season’s Champions League.
Mendy said that the French midfielder told some of his Chelsea teammates that the Blues would win the Champions League even before the competition began.
Chelsea did not lose a single game throughout the group stages of the tournament.
And in the knockout stages, they beat Atletico Madrid, Porto and Real Madrid to reach the final, where they defeated Manchester City to claim the title.
Mendy said that Kante had predicted that Thomas Tuchel’s Blues would win the tournament before their opening group stage clash with Sevilla.
“I have the best anecdote of the season. We were travelling with N’Golo, Kurt [Zouma] and Olivier [Giroud],” Mendy told BeIN Sports France as quoted by the Sun.
“N’Golo confidently said: ‘Guys I think this year we will win the Champions League. Yes, I don’t know, I have a feeling.’ The first day.
“I told him to wait and see how the game [vs Sevilla] went tonight.
“That night we played Sevilla and honestly, it was the most difficult game we had in the group stage.”
