ICT firm, Skool Media, says it has rewarded 52 teachers with over N2.3m at the second edition of the ‘Digital Teachers Competition’.

According to a statement by the firm, the programme covered the Federal Unity Colleges across the South Western part of Nigeria.  It said the initiative sought to encourage the utilisation of digital facilities and scaling up of digital skills.

The statement added that the initiative built on the phased digitalisation of classrooms in the colleges, including the supply of Kodak mini smart projectors with batteries to different schools.

The Chief Executive Officer of Skool Media, Moses Imayi, said that the competition provides an opportunity to reawaken educators and stakeholders on the need to learn and develop adequate skills necessary to improve the quality of learning across the country.

He said, “Digital learning has become the contemporary pedagogical focus of 21st century, and has been further accelerated due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“As a result, we recognise the need to intensively and constantly engage educators to identify solutions, while we also expose them to essentials of modern teaching methodology that can be designed for different kinds of students each passing year. We will use the feedback and recommendations from these engagements to manage subsequent editions at other zones.”
